Caney Creek Dog

My introduction to the British Labrador breed came around 1995. I had owned an American Lab at the time, and was ready for a change. It wasn't long when my research led me to the British Labs. I was immediately impressed by several aspects of the breed.

One of the most impressive qualities of the British Labradors as a breed is the fact that any dog with undesirable traits is culled out of the breeding process. This is due to the fact that bad traits can be passed down through generations of dogs. Because of this, the British Labradors as a whole have fewer imperfections and are less likely to gain bad traits. This is in contrast to their American counterparts where breeders attempt to "breed out" the bad traits of the dogs.

After experiencing the joy of my first few British Labs, I soon came in contact with a breeder from Scotland. This was a great opportunity for me to get a first hand glance at the tradition and source of the labs as a breed. Since then, I have been importing dogs from Scotland because of their impressive and strict breeding programs which produce dogs that have excellent temperaments, are easily trained, and are very eager to please.

My mission as a breeder and enthusiast of British Labradors is to bring the enjoyment and excitement that I have towards the breed to other families, individuals, and hunters. By mirroring the British methods of breeding and training, Caney Creek Kennel strives to produce the best hunting dog and life long companion that anyone can find in the United States.
