Physical Characteristics
British Labradors differ in many ways from their American counter-parts. They are smaller in stature and size, but are strongly built. The males normally range anywhere from 50 to 75 pounds and the females can be around 45 to 60 pounds. The common colors for British Labradors are black, yellow, and liver/chocolate. Yellow can range in color from a light cream to a darker red or “red fox.”
Temperament
British Labradors are known to be intelligent, keen, and have a very strong will to please. The dogs carry no trace of aggression or undue shyness. Unlike other breeds, British Labradors are calm and relaxed and hardly ever give into traits such as jumping, biting, or chewing. Their loving and calm temperament make them easy to train and also perfect family companions.
Hunting Ability
Although the British Labradors generally keep a calm demeanor, they come alive with placed in a hunting environment. They have an impeccable drive to hunt which has been bred into them for generations. One of their key attributes is their scenting ability. They are much more capable of picking up on scents than many other breeds.
